Expert Witness, General Dentistry

I provide expert witness services for clinical negligence claims in General Dentistry, working on claimant and defendant instructions. I provide a range of services including patient examinations and the preparation of dental personal injury accident, current condition and prognosis, and liability and causation reports.  

As an active Dental Surgeon, with a comprehensive knowledge of clinical standards and a strong understanding of the legal implications in dental practice I am ideally suited to providing an up-to-date DentoLegal opinion.   

I have been a General Dental Practitioner for 40 years in both NHS and Private Dentistry, and remain in Clinical Private Practice. I have special interests in Prosthodontics (including Dental Implant Retained Restorations), Cosmetic Dental Treatments, and Minor Oral Surgery (for which I receive referrals). I have extensive experience in the integrated management of dental disease and restorative treatments including: 

Prosthodontic: replacement teeth - dentures, crowns / veneers, bridges, and implants.

Surgical: extractions, retained and buried roots, impacted wisdom teeth, nerve damage, postoperative care.

Endodontic: root canal treatment.

Periodontal: gum disease and treatment, including advanced periodontitis.

Developmental disorders: hypodontia, cleft lip and palate (providing prosthodontics).

Other: infection and abscess management; dental injuries; oroantral communication following dental treatment; oral cancers and medicine.

I was awarded the University of Strathclyde Inspire MediLaw Expert Witness Certificate with excellence after completing a comprehensive training course covering legal issues, report writing, joint meetings, conferences with Counsel, giving evidence in court and complying with Civil Procedure rules. I am a recognised AvMA Medical Expert.

I am registered with the General Dental Council with a licence to practice (registration 53749), insured for expert witness work with Insync Insurance (policy MMUK001254), and registered with the ICO (registration ZB875710).
